  • If I have a first round grade, I'm not to hyped about playing two more games for free, to make my school and that board rich. Pay me before I blowout my knee and lose millions.

  • The human committee keep picking the same schools with the most money to play in the playoffs so how is that the best system Booger? Proper inclusion of realignment is the answer.

  • College Football needs proper conference realignment that provides inclusion. Expanding the playoffs only put more Power schools in the playoffs which doesn't change anything.

  • The idea isn't to make it easier. It's to make it more selective. Four is adequate for a championship. Eight is too many and twelve is excessive.

  • There's only 5 teams in the mix anyway! For the CFP right now now it seems like! Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma expanding the playoff could help! Or further make it an Sec Invitational Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M! Half the playoff Sec!

  • Assuming playoff is inevitable there's little need to expand beyond eight. At some point there's a diminishing return. I think it's eight. Still I prefer the present format. Four is the right measure of competition. Post BCS. Eight isn't necessary. But if it's inevitable then Include the following. 1. Atlantic Coast Conference: Include Cincinnati, Navy and Notre Dame. 2. Big Ten Conference : Include Colorado and West Virginia. 3. Big XII Conference: Include Arkansas, Central Florida, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Memphis, Rice, S. Methodist, and Tulsa. 4. Pacific-12 Conference: Include Boise State, Brigham Young, Hawaii, Nevada Las Vegas and San Diego State. 5. Southeastern Conference: Include Clemson, Kansas and Tulane. 6. Mid American Conference: Include Army, East Carolina Marshall and Temple. 7. Mountain West Conference: Include Arkansas St., Houston, Louisiana Tech, S. Alabama, S. Mississippi, Texas State and UTEP. 8. C-USA and Sun Belt: merge. Add USF. Massachusetts: independent.

  • just more teams for the SEC to beat up. the SEC will play for natty 2 out of every 3 years. then they will go to 16 teams and get the same results. roll tide. saban wins 5 more chips.

  • For once I agree With Booger. They are killing college football with this nonsense. Expanding this playoff to 12 teams will lead to 17 game seasons, which is not good for these kids that they supposedly care about. Let’s end this pretense once and for all. Declare college football as the official minor league of the NFL and pay the players.

  • Booger is soooooo irrelevant! Get over it and move forward into the future

  • I got Tennessee and Oregon my too dark horses to win the college football playoffs 👀🤝

  • Four team playoff. Post season. No play in bowl pairings. Simple as that. Plus it puts a cap of games necessary to claim a championship.

  • Booger get out of here with that bull junk

  • If you hate traditions with your team and hate college football 12 teams is great! It will turn college into mini pro

  • All about 💰

  • Booger speaks as if he doesn’t live in America.

  • I like 8-12. Yes you wanna make the opportunity exclusive but you also want parity and a “true champion”

  • When they first brought the idea of the playoffs I thought it would be 10-12 teams. I didn't like the idea of 4 teams. On the flip side if this is done for a few years and the lower seeds struggle to win then bring the number down.

  • So are the players gonna share in this extra revenue being generated put it in a trust so the day they leave school they have a nice lump some everyone doesn't go to the NFL

  • Several more blowout games

  • Yes booger, because needing to win more games in order to win a national championship would be a lot easier🙄

  • 12 teams is not a good move. Its only going to cause more injuries due to the extended season and these guys are STILL IN SCHOOL! Maybe 8 but a potential 17 game football schedule in college??? Thats insane.

  • Who’s gonna listen to a guy who’s name is booger

  • The reason why a 8 playoff team in NCAA 🏈 is the best setup in my opinion is 1. It insures that all 5 power conference have a rep in the playoffs. . somebody is left out with ONLY a 4 team playoff 2 Now a smaller conference school team or 2 with a undefeated or 1lose record makes the playoff. 3. As we all know the smaller conference talent have vastly improved in the past two decades. 4. Expansion will ONLY benefit NCAA COLLEGE 🏈

  • It's not hard for Clemson or Bama if they only have to win 1 game to make it to the championship that's the point of them changing it. It should be 16 teams just like FCS does.

  • It’s still not going to change who wins

  • Keep the playoffs the same I don’t want to see more blow out playoff performances then we already do. Anyone that wants more teams just wants their team I’m to get in easier. Regular season games matter now if this happens you can have a 9-3 conference champ in that will get smacked by higher seeded team.

  • Actually pretty much my exact thoughts summed up perfectly. This is inevitable, because of money. And while it's being done for all the wrong reasons, it's already too late since we sold our souls to the corporate devil's with the creation of a playoff. It was always going to expand. 4 teams is too little for a 32 team league let alone 100+ teams. Sadly it's only happening now because they desperately need money as covid has almost killed the game.

  • For the booger haters calling booger an idiot. Check out my scenario new playoff format. Coastal Carolina vs Iowa St for the national title game. Yep that’s right imagine watching this game at home C.C vs Iowa St playing on ur tube. U really want to see this game or Clemson vs Alabama part 5. Me I’m taking Clemson vs Bama again

  • Yurr

  • The upside to expanding the playoff is you give more access to teams to compete for a national championship therefore making other schools more attractive to 5 star talent. The downside is you devalue the meaningful regular season which is the most important regular season in all of sports

  • I think we already have bigger than a four -team playoff. Georgia vs Clemson week 1 is a playoff game Oregon vs Ohio State week 2 is a playoff game Conference championships are playoff games

  • Booger is an idiot.

  • It's happening!!!

  • Committee needs to stand ground and hold firm. If they decide to move away from current model and decide to go left there going to create the apocalypse which means the end of college football 🏈

  • Here's two more situations that's fascinating. This year if a 9-3 Florida Team met up with an Undefeated Alabama team in the SEC Championship..that game would absolutely be meaningless for Florida and its Fans because at best even if Florida wins with 3 losses they wouldn't make it in the. CFP 4 team format they would go to an Outback or Citrus bowl game and none of there senior starters would play they wouldn't even suit up for the SEC championship game they be getting ready for the draft...under the new Playoff Expansion a 9-3 Florida team who plays in the SEC championship that game would mean so.ething and all there players would play because if they win baby there in... Another situation they talk about how this new Expansion would water down the regular season by default i would argue it already is because if your a 2 loss team in the regular season not name Clemson,Alabama, or Ohio State none of your games matter anymore a 2 loss Iowa team rank 16 vs a 2 Loss Penn St team ranked 13 if they played in regular season that game would already be meaningless..under the new Exspansion that game would mean a great deal..And teams with 1,2, even 3 losses early on most certainly catch fire at the end of the year get in the tournament and have A shot of winning the whole thing teams who normally would be left out and pissed and blow a team out in a meaningless bowl game will now have the chance to redeem themself.. Schools and Television make more money yes. Do players likeness benefit a great deal with expanded playoffs yes Do the fans get more drama and more teams in a tournament with more excitement to see more star players go head to head one last time before turning pro = yes... The only ones who don't like this are the premidona programs who have had there strings all over college football

  • It will be so many injuries

  • What a big surprise! Two SEC guys don’t like it. Why? Because it dramatically increases their chance of facing multiple passing teams that SEC teams struggle against. And spare me the Oklahoma Choke Artists as your default position. This will significantly change college football forever. Role your eyes all you want. These two (Booger and Goofy) know exactly what I’m talking about. There’s no upside for the SEC and tons of major downside for them with this new format. Just watch where the pushback comes from. Old, tired sportscasters and SEC fanboys.

  • Mfs hating they can’t come up with something better 😂😂💯

  • If anyone wants to hear some actual reasons for not expanding the playoffs go listen to "The late kick with Josh Pate" over on 247 sports. He has numerous videos outlining the problem. Go check him out.

  • Expansion will get the green light, unfortunately. When half the slots are SEC teams, you nut cases that supported a twelve team playoff will want another “fix” to the CFP. I wish the Sec, Big10 and ACC would break away and start it’s on Super League.

  • Why should a committee determine who should play in a tournament, please find a formula where the play on the field determines who enters the playoffs

  • No one wants 12, 4 is fine. 6 would be good with 2 byes. 8 possibly. But no one wants 12, that’s awful

  • There is no parody in cfb rn. This would help level out the field, and also help schools land more top recruits instead of them going to Bama, Clemson and Ohio St every year so they can be on TV.

    • No parody in CFB? Have you not heard of NC State?

  • Awesome. Absolutely no reason to watch regular season. Wake me up come playoff time.

  • Lmao shut up Booger

  • NCAA D1A the only level of football without a real playoff... Flag, pop Warner, high school, D1AA, D2, D3, CC, JC, NAIA, NFL, CFL, etc. They all have a real playoff with more than 4 teams. What makes FBS so special?

  • booger is so dumb.

  • If they go to 12 teams everyone will be mad when a 1 or 2 loss bama and Clemson get in

  • You got one job. Make this happen sooner then later.

  • Should of been 8 from the beginning. They act like o 8 is not going to win. Booger a 12 team playoff will still be hard LOL you have to win all those games man up and enjoy the expansion.

  • All 5 Power Five Conference champions could conceivably be undefeated and 1 doesn't go. That's why 4 isn't enough. But 12 is stupid.

  • Would be nice if Dinich understood the sport she reports on.

  • 12 will never work. Think its unfair now with who is selected? Wait until there are 3/4 SEC teams, one has a buy week, and the other 3 have home games the first round instead of coming north in mid december for a first round game in big ten / northern big 12 country! Make it 8. 5 power five champs top group 5 champ plus two at large!

  • Booger sounds like a fool.

  • I don’t understand Booger McFarlands take on this how would it be easier??? He is not explaining himself with substance to help me understand why he think it is bad...

  • You expand the field and then you let the players get paid

  • Does Booger Mcfarland know the ncaa tourney has 64 teams?

    • @Ian Bustin um yes lots of schools care about the regular season. The school you root for must not have a good bball team, and that’s fine. Also, there’s 30+ bball games a year plus conference tourneys, it’s a lot to keep up with. There’s 12 football games a year and you’re talking about 12 playoffs spots for 129 FBS teams. Booger sounds ridiculous

    • yeah and does anyone outside of die hard Duke or Kentucky basketball fans care about the regular season? No because the worst that happens for those programs is they just lose some seeding. Thats it. They still know they are going to the playoffs so why does the regular season matter?

  • Booger is right, winning a national championship should be hard. However, I don't see how expanding to a 12 team format would make it any easier than the current 4 team format, it only gives more opportunity to smaller G5 schools that can never play for the title no matter what they do. The bye for the top 4 teams also ensures that the regular season would still matter significantly, and matter even more for smaller schools that never had a chance to make the 4 team playoff.

  • It should be the top 8 teams at least in college football playoffs

  • It will expand!! Gotta make up for the money the players about to get

  • Every conference champion should get a chance to play for the chip...make these teams earn it on the field.. too much politics to let people keep picking who gets a shot

  • How can you expect to be taken seriously when people call you "Booger"?

  • A lot of people agree with Booger. By a lot, I mean AT LEAST 6 or 7 other people on planet earth.

  • 24 simple. 12 it will be more crying when more SEC and BIG 10 teams in that.

  • Boy I'm sick of harassing advertisement

  • That means at least 4 SEC teams would likely be there every year. Bama and UGA for sure every year. Other could be A&M, LSU and maybe Auburn from the west and Florida from the east! I like it!

  • if you to change it to 12, will be the equivalent of the participation trophy. their will be teams that have absolutely no chance at winning a playoff game . 6 or 8 is cool, definitely not 12

    • Couldn’t do 6 without 2 first round byes so you would have an even number of teams to play each other in the second round. Otherwise I agree. I think 8 is the magic number.

  • Booger is an idiot.... it’s always been about money idiot get him off the air!

  • The NCAA has lost its way. Go back to pre BCS/Playoff football and shut the door on it forever.

  • All conference champs and maybe runners up. All independents join a conference.

  • I've a got a name for it. The let's guarantee that Notre Dame is always in the playoffs.

  • Great more chance for southern teams to win it all. 🤢

  • I disagree with booger McFarlane. You're expected to be perfect in college for a chance to be considered for a spot in the playoffs. The nfl has a lower margin for error for reaching the playoffs and same thing for college basketball. Some teams will have a tougher schedule then others while some teams will never get a chance to be considered. I prefer there be 8 but it shouldn't be just 4.

  • Ppl want to expand it to 12 bc the same teams win it every year

    • And why do you think that is? Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St have separated themselves from the rest of the country. No one is stopping Tennessee, USC, or Texas from being in the discussion other than themselves. This goes for every program those 3 are just examples having the resources but not utilizing them properly.

  • It's a shame casual fans/media can not accept the fact that Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State are just simply great programs. Expand for what... I mean the 1 vs 4 matchup is rarely competitive. Yet adding more teams will solve that? casuals please stop ✋ with the participation trophy syndrome.

    • I don't think a lot of people expect college football's landscape to change with this new format. Imo, the format is about giving all teams, including the smaller ones, a legitimate path to the playoffs. Any respectable competition should be giving every team a legitimate chance at the trophy. Even if they end up getting blasted by bigger teams, they at least got their chance. It's not "participation trophy syndrome" to want everyone to have an opportunity. I'm a soccer fan first and foremost, so my best comparison would be to the UEFA Champions League. The teams from big countries dominate this competition. Porto's win in 2003 was the last time a team from outside England, Italy, Spain, or Germany won the tournament. But, teams from smaller countries still get the same opportunity to compete in the tournament as the teams from big countries do. Sometimes, the smaller teams pull off massive upsets. In 2011, for example, Switzerland's FC Basel knocked Manchester United out of the tournament. It may not happen often, but under the new format, playoff upsets will happen and we'll likely talk about them for years afterward.

    • I agree for the most part, but it’s hard to deny that there’s usually a team or 2 that comes out of nowhere each season that has a spectacular year and I don’t like them getting denied a chance at climbing to the top 4 because the entire SEC is ranked in the top 25 for the first half of the season (when 2/3 of them prove they didn’t deserve the ranking by seasons end). With this said, I think 8 teams is the magic number. Any more than that and it does truly become too watered down.

  • I'm in favor of the 12 team playoffs. Get it done, ncaa

  • They can't even find a credible 4th team in the playoff, but I understand financially and geographically why they're considering an expansion.

    • @Jacob Watson 12 teams is coming

    • @mrkackerwacker WELL IF THE COMMITTEE WOULD GET THE 4 TEAMS RIGHT INSTEAD OF PUTTING NOTRE DAME IN THEN WE WOULDN’T BE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION

    • @Jacob Watson see A&M, OU, GA, & FLA this last year. LOL yourself clown.

    • @mrkackerwacker LOL

    • Ummm there are almost always teams ranked worse than the 4 team that are better

  • Can't take a idiot named booger serious. It's gonna be way more entertaining with 12 teams. I couldn't give two shits about the money

  • Im confused... Booger talking about college football being an amateur sport so it don't need a playoff... Uumm high school has play off.. Middle school.. Private school.. Oh but college is amateur.. They don't need playoff.. Get out of here.. Thats no excuse..

  • ESPN just reported the CFP committee will meet next week to consider expanding the playoff to 12 teams. Little too watered down for me. I think 8 is the magic number. I understand the argument about wanting to see all conference champs get a shot, but let’s be real.... not all conferences are equal. Plus you really start to see more of a drop off in big time talent once you get past the top 8 teams. If you really wanted to do away with all the crying by fans of bubble teams and eliminate any legit gripes, have a traditional pro style regular season where every team in the country has an EQUAL SHOT at playing their way in to the playoff by winning enough games. Kinda goes to the 12 team (10 conference champs and 2 wild card teams) proposal, but then really good high ranked 2nd place finishers in the SEC for instance would have a major gripe about being left out of the playoff because they didn’t have a good enough record for a WC and some conference champ from a trash non-power 5 conference gets in ahead of them. In order for a pro style regular season which would give every team in the country the same equal chance to play their way into the CFP, major changes would have to happen. Conferences would need rebuilt or done away with and schedules would need a drastic change to ensure everyone plays each other, etc. to make things fair. That won’t happen, so an 8 team playoff would be ideal, IMO.

  • But paying the players is impossible and ruins the integrity of college football. Come on guys. If youre gonna do this, pay them. Or shorten the season to 10 games

  • Sorry, booger, but you are VERY wrong on this one. I have always wanted a 12-team field that allows all 10 conference champions an automatic bid. We likely won't get that (probably 6 auto bid cap) but at least a pathway will open for the have-not conferences when they have a team worth considering. This current system does not work, no matter how much you delude yourself into thinking it does.

  • The majority who accepts a playoff expansion will soon realized the mistake and downfall of college football. These fans are fans who can’t stand teams like Alabama Ohio St Oklahoma Notre Dame Clemson Georgia same teams

    • It's not about who wins. It's about the fact that most teams are eliminated from playoffs before opening kickoff. If every team gets a chance at playoffs, and they get beat when they're in, it's a different story than if they got no chance at all.

  • Ur going to get a whole bunch of 2-3 loss teams into the playoffs at 12 teams

  • Here’s 2018 CFP rankings thru week 15. Ur 12 team playoffs goes #9 Washington 10-3 #10 Florida 9-3 #11 LSU 9-3 #12 Penn St 9-3 #7 Michigan 10-2 #5 Georgia 11-2 Expanding the playoffs is not a really good idea if your going to crown the national title and preserve the regular season

    • Word. Getting tired of all this expansion talk. What, and give ANOTHER shot to a team who already had a shot, lost THREE TIMES, and should be awarded another because “we need to expand!” At what point does a loss count? Cause apparently it isn’t at three. Why is it we still don’t know by the end of December if Florida, ISU, etc. don’t belong?

  • Everyone is sick of just Alabama, Ohio state, Clemson, & 1 other team... why 4 teams when you have 5 power 5 conferences.. Amateur sport that makes BILLIONS of dollars. Its not an amateur sport anymore..

  • Should be 8 teams. Power 5 conference Champs get an automatic bid. 2 other spots go to power 5 teams. And 1 spot goes to highest ranked non power 5 team. Even 12 teams would be better..

  • How often does the #4 get blown out and people want a 8 or 12? The great thing about college football is the regular season and 12 kills it. If you want to expand, go with 6 (5 major champs and 1 at large). There, that is it.

  • So hating on Notre Dame. The Devil is alive and kicking!!!

  • Just let Alabama pick their opponent every year. Who cares what the fans think?

  • Booger has such a stupid take on this. NFL, FCS , Div 2,3, NAIA all handle the post season around the same way. Division 1 FBS is the only sport to act like it's a special unicorn. The field should be expanded, then let the play on the field decide it. Teams can get upset. Happens all the time.

  • Do a 16 team playoff and eliminate bowl games. It will be bigger than March madness and make all schools more money than meaningless bowl games do.

  • I like the idea of 8 or 12 teams playoff. But I'm afraid that playoff format will hurt teams like OU, Bama, OSU or Clemson in recruiting. For examples, talent recruits in California, they can go to any contender in PAC-12. If their school win their conference, they get to go to the playoff. So they still get to stay close to home while having a decent shot at the playoff. On the bright side, it will be better for talent distribution. And Non P5 schools get a chance to compete with traditional power house or blue blood program in the playoff. Regardless, the more the merrier. More teams competing make the playoff a lot more interesting and bring more crowds to watch the games. That's just my 2 cents

  • Booger l see why they call you that you think four teams is a dam play off you are a dam joke it should have stared with 12 teams

  • ...and how much of the players going to receive?

  • Eight teams or six teams with the top two reviving a bye would be fine. I think twelve might be verging on too many.

  • 8 teams is too much, 6 should be the maximum

  • I completely disagree with Booger, we need to expand period.

    • Why does anyone care what Paul Finebaum thinks? He's an idiot.

    • Not beyond four teams. He's actually pretty smart. There aren't enough good teams to fill a bracket. There's a point of diminishing returns. Six teams is manageable. Twelve is ridiculous.

  • Why would they give teams 5-12 an additional game when after all this time, the mantra was "we don't what to play too many games."? If that's the case, just do 8 and allow every school to have a 13 game schedule.

  • I'm with it.. Let's do 12. Pretty tired of seeing the same popular teams get voted in. Also, Booger needs a new job.
